LEWA offers RIX’s compressor series from RIX Microboost to heavy-duty crosshead-constructed compressors handling up to 8,000 psig (550 barg) and supporting horsepower ranges from 0.5 to 500 hp (0.35 to 370kW). RIX Industries provides an applicable compressor for many different applications and gas types such as breathing air, oxygen, helium, hydrogen, argon, carbon dioxide as well as other exotic gas types. RIX Compressors feature an easy-to-maintain design and – depending on the series – oil-free or oil-lubed lubrication. Flow ranges up to 2,800 SCFM (~4,750 m³/h) are possible.
RIX Industries offers eleven different gas compressor series for different gas types and various applications.
This high-pressure Oxygen compressor is a three-stage reciprocating gas booster employing a stepped, oil-free piston. The crankshaft is driven via a speed reducing gearbox on a vertical design crankcase. Heat exchangers, crankcase and compression cylinders are air-cooled. The Microboost high-pressure oxygen compressor will fill up to 25 "D" cylinders (15 cft / 425 l) in a 24-hour period. RIX Oxygen Compressors have been developed specifically for the exacting requirements of safe, reliable oxygen compression service.
The RIX Sweet Air Series of air compressors features a swash plate construction for balanced operation, completely oil-free compression as well as oil-free breathing air to 310 barg (4,500 psig). Service on RIX Sweet Air oil-free booster is simple and easy. It requires no special technical abilities. Since there is no "oil-bath" crankcase as in lubricated compressors, the parts requiring normal service and maintenance are easily accessible. RIX Sweet Air Compressors are very suitable for air sampling, contaminant-free gas recovery and other industrial uses where oil-free high-pressure compression is needed. Safety during operation and ease of service are the trademarks of RIX compressors.
The 2PS2B Oxygen Compressor Series incorporates design features developed over several decades for a variety of industrial and military Oxygen compressor applications. These compressors are well-suited for the compression of Oxygen and other clean, dry gases to 2,200 psig. 2PS2B two-stage compressors employ two oil-free single-acting cylinders on a vertical opposed design crankcase. Heat exchangers, crankcase and compression cylinders are air-cooled. The free-floating second stage piston allows piston and rings to be easily changed. Replacement of the floating piston assembly typically requires only about 30 minutes. The ring life of the high-pressure stage, at 2,200 psig, has proven to be more than 2,000 hours. Service life of the first stage is considerably longer.
RIX 2V compressors feature stout crosshead construction with one to three stages of totally oil-free compression. Gases commonly compressed include oxygen, hydrogen, argon, helium, nitrogen, air, natural gas, CO2, hydrocarbon mixes and various other rare gases. Cylinders are single-acting and air-cooled; water-cooled cylinders are optional. Also, water-cooled heat exchangers are available. Gapless piston rings provide the best sealing and a long life. Various Teflon®-based materials are available for differing applications. Optional piston rod seals provide capture of hazardous and rare gases.
The RIX 4VX compressor features heavy-duty crosshead construction in a "V" cylinder arrangement with one to five stages of totally oil-free compression. Furthermore, it is characterized by air or water-cooling, a pressure-lube crankcase as well as a compact, easy-to-maintain design. It is designed for continuous duty operation providing 30 to 200 SCFM up to 6,000 psig.
The 4V4 Oxygen compressor series is well-suited for the compression of oxygen to 3,000 psig, and other clean, dry gases to 5,000 psig. The 4V4 high-pressure Oxygen compressor will fill up to one hundred (100) 240 cft 2,500 psi oxygen cylinders in a 24-hour period. 4V4BG four-stage compressors employ four oil-free single-acting cylinders on a "V" type crosshead design crankcase. Heat exchangers, crankcase and compression cylinders are fresh water cooled. The crankcase is pressure/splash-lubricated with oxygen compatible oil. The third and fourth stage pistons are free-floating. This allows piston and ring change-out without cylinder or piston rod removal. All heads are air-cooled and can be removed without disconnecting the cooling water piping. Replacement of a floating piston assembly typically requires only about 30 minutes. The proven ring life of the fourth stage, compressing oxygen at 2,500 psig, is more than 3,000 hours. Service life of the other stages is considerably longer.
The RIX 1KX compressor series is oil-free or oil-lubricated for high-pressure service up to 7,000 psig. RIX 1K compressors feature heavy-duty crosshead construction with a vertical, inline cylinder and full water cooling. The RIX 1KX is fabricated with larger piston guide and bearings for additional horsepower and rod load capacity. It is suitable for applications with oxygen, hydrogen, argon, nitrogen, helium as well as natural gas.
RIX 3KX compressors feature heavy-duty crosshead construction with three vertical inline cylinders and water cooling. RIX is a world leader in oil-free compression, having built thousands of oil-free compressors for demanding applications such as pure oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, helium, CO2, and other mixed gases. The crankcase is pressure-lubricated with a shaft-mounted Gerotor oil pump and full flow oil filter. 3KX compressors feature sleeve-type con rod bearings and bronze wrist pin bushings. A wide selection of materials and designs is available for different pressures, gases and performance requirements. High-pressure stages commonly use floating pistons with RIX patented spiral rings for maximum sealing, long life and quick replacement. The compressors provide vented and/or purged air or water-cooled packing boxes, stainless steel or Tungsten-coated piston rods as well as extra-long distance pieces.
RIX 3J compressors feature heavy-duty crosshead construction with three vertical inline cylinders and full water cooling. The three guide cylinders are cast into a single piece for extra strength and rigidity. The compressor is suitable for hazardous or corrosive gas applications. It includes air or water inter/after coolers, closed-loop cooling, pulsation dampeners, variable flow control, dual tower high-pressure driers as well as custom design, packaging, piping and controls. The crankcase is pressure-lubricated with a shaft-mounted Gerotor oil pump and full flow oil filter. Pistons are made of aluminum, bronze, stainless steel or other alloys, piston rings use self-lubricating TFF materials. High-pressure stages use the RlX patented spiral piston rings with a close tolerance floating piston for maximum service life and quick replacement. 3JS compressors feature inter- and after-coolers with auto-moisture separators, corrosion-resistant piping as well as relief valves and gauges after each stage.
RIX 2JS compressors feature heavy-duty crosshead construction with two vertical inline cylinders and full water cooling. The guide cylinders are cast into the crankcase for strength and rigidity. RIX 2JJS model is fabricated with heavier components and offers a center main bearing for additional horsepower and rod load capacity. The crankcase is pressure-lubricated with a shaft-mounted Gerotor oil pump and full flow oil filter. The compressors feature extra-long distance pieces, spherical roller end bearings, sleeve type center main and connecting rod bearings, bronze wrist pin bushings, iron or bronze castings, piston rings and packings in a wide selection of designs and materials, vented and/or purged packing boxes as well as stainless steel or poppet-type valves.
RIX 2JJS compressors are fabricated with heavier components than the 2JS models and have an optional center main bearing for additional horsepower and rod load capacity. Its features and options are described above (2JS Series).
